Looking to get back in to the swing of things after their bizarre end of the season last year, by losing a coin flip to deny them a spot in the playoffs, the Dickinson Red Devils wanted to start off on a positive note. They did just that against Johns Hopkins. Right off the opening shift Charles Goldberg buried his first of three goals, while linemate Daniel Conant tallied his first of three assists on the night. Minutes later Teddy Malley increased their lead to two goals. However, Hopkins would keep it close as they were awarded a powerplay and Albie Feeny capitalized on the situation pulling within one. However, it was all Dickinson the rest of the way as they rolled with two more goals before the end of the period by Malley and Greg Goldman. The second and third period saw some back and forth action with teams exchanging chances but Dickinson netted two more powerplay goals before the final buzzer from Goldberg and Louis Ricci. Dickinson’s new goaltender William Beuerlein stood his ground and stopped 45 of 46 shots.
Hopkins looks to bounce back next week as they host Wesley College in their home opener. Dickinson looks to continue their winning ways as they also faceoff against Wesley in Delaware.
